I am what?
I am really confused! Why do so many posts start with I AM?
For as he thinketh within himself, so is he. Proverbs 23:7 (ASV)
Over 10 years ago during a support group study of The Search For Significance by Robert McKee, the group was instructed to write six I AM statements on a card and repeat them every day for a month.
At the beginning of the month, I didn’t believe any of the statements. At the end of the month, I believed every one of them. And my life was certainly changed for the better!
That was the only thing that I did with I AM statements for over a decade.
Then several years ago I read about a charter school in Milwaukee with exceptionally high graduation rates. Every day the students recite from a poem by William Ernest Henley that ends with these words:
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
It took me a long time to connect the dots that I can introduce more I AM statements and change my thinking, my behavior, and my life’s outcomes
Two years ago I decided to write an I AM statement every day after reading Our Daily Bread. My thinking has changed. My outlook has changed. And I am seeing different results in my life.
I am continuing the journey that I started a decade ago, changing my life even more.
