America, Prayers for the Land That I Love

Mountain in morning fogJust like you I am extremely concerned about America.

Students are not adequately prepared for college or entering the work force.

Teens are getting pregnant prior to any thought of marriage and children are raised in fatherless homes.  Too many people believe the lie that an abortion will resolve the “problem” of an unplanned pregnancy.  Consequences are lifelong and dysfunctional issues are unresolved.

I wanted to compile verses to help people pray for America, which was founded on Biblical principles and influenced the Founders with the Declaration of Independence and the U. S. Constitution.  I had already selected numerous verses on a wide variety of topics.  As I categorized them according to subject and topic, I was really surprised about the multitude of verses that could be selected for prayer guidance for America, Land That I Love.  Verses on these topics:

Honesty, Justice, Integrity, Judges, Leadership, Pride, Loyalty, Marriage, Divorce, Mocking Justice and Nations.

Consider this from Job 34:10-12:  “Listen to me, you who have understanding.  Everyone knows that God doesn’t sin!  The Almighty can do no wrong.  He repays people according to their deeds.  He treats people as they deserve. Truly, God will not do wrong.  The Almighty will not twist justice.”

“Be still and know that I am God I will be honored by every nation I will be honored throughout the world.” Psalms 46:10

Praise the Lord all you nations.  Praise Him, all you people of the earth.  For he loves us with unfailing love; the Lord’s faithfulness endures forever.  Psalms 117:1-2.

Because God is very concerned for our moral status and is opposed to immorality, there are numerous verses regarding sexual immorality.  God desires that you ‘Give honor to marriage, and remain faithful to one another in marriage.  God will surely judge people who are immoral and those who commit adultery.’ Hebrews 13:4

The United States is at risk due to incurred national debt.   ‘Just the rich rule the poor, so the borrower is the servant to the lender.’ Proverbs 22 7

Personal sin and national sins both result in long-lasting consequences.  Reviewing God’s Word, responding to it with confession and repentance is a good place to start and pray for this wonderful country that we are fortunate enough to live in

This journal is only a start with verses to aid in your prayers for America. Consider that the U.S. Constitution describes three equal branches of government: the judicial, legislative and executive.  The Founders may have looked to Isaiah 33:22 as the basis for God’s roll in honorable government.

  •  For the Lord is our judge, (judicial branch)

  • our lawgiver, (legislative branch)

  • and our king. (executive branch)

  • He will care for us and save us.

Isaiah 33:22

No government program can ever replace the wisdom of God.  You can choose a person, an issue or a position and pray for God’s guidance.  We need wise and honest judges, legislators and executive leaders with integrity at every level of government in America.  God will honor your faithful prayers for America.
